The 4th International Scientific Conference “HEALTH. PLEASANT SENSATION. PRACTICE.” P. Stradins Medical College of the University of Latvia

On April 8 2021, took place successfully the 4th International Scientific Conference “HEALTH. PLEASANT SENSATION. PRACTICE.” organized by the P. Stradins Medical College of the University of Latvia, which was ordered online at MS Teams platform.

The conference was opened by college director Iveta Strode. The opening speeches were supplemented by Ilze Briža, representative of the Latvian Association of Beauty Professionals, and Rita Grīnfogele, Chairman of the Board of the Latvian Masseur Society, emphasizing the need for continuous professional development and the importance for the development of the master.

The first part of the conference program was organized as a webinar, where listeners were addressed by health-care and beauty professionals and college graduate course students who presented the results of their own studies, which was developed as part of their qualification works. In general, a current and binding range of topics for the audience of the conference was examined, as demonstrated by the active question session following the presentation of the speakers.

The conference program was opened by college practitioners in health care. The head of the Biomedical laboratory technician department supervisor and nutritionist, Rūta Melbārde–Vāvere, presented a report entitled “Nutrition to force the body during the virus”, the college associate professor and certified podologist Mārīte Saulīte offered a topical theme for the season-changing period “Seasonal foot problems”.

There was a great deal of interest from the audience when dermatovenerologist, Dmitrijs Malošiks looked at cases of practical experience and internationally conducted studies of acne and mascne from the point view of dermatologists, the experience of the Ltd. “Soneil studio” mezotherapy trainer and dermatovenerologist, Žanna Zakovrjašina, based on her practice and research for new generation mesococktail options in facial modeling, the practical experience of PROF COSMETICS board member and certified beautician Kristīne Jākobsone on the choice of chemical peelings at acne and mascne, practical experience of bathhouse attendant and vibro-acoustic massage specialist Ivars Vallers on the use of amber in massage.

Audience questions and assessments of progress were also received by students from the college study program “Esthetic cosmetology”, who presented the results of studies carried out in the framework of the conference on the method of alopecia therapy in cosmetology, peroral collagen as an alternative to collagen induction therapy, mesoporation as an alternative to mesotherapy for stale skin in the eye area and in the study program “Medical massage” the 2nd year student report on the use of massage tools and devices with vibration effects in the practice of masseur and physiotherapist.

The webinar part of the conference was closed by professional experience stories from Estonia and Italy, which offered listeners to meet both the rehabilitation institutions, daily work and professional challenges of masseur outside Latvia.

In the second half of the day, participants of the conference had the opportunity to participate in masterclasses conducted by specialists.

Beauty care specialist in cosmetology, beauticians and students of the study program “Esthetic cosmetology” were invited to watch 2 masterclasses:

  • Choice of chemical peelings at acne and mascne;
  • Cleavage of fat cells and align facial expression wrinkles with mesotherapy cocktails. Injection techniques.
Masseuses, students of the study program “Medical massage” and others watched masterclasses in which they were introduced with two types of massage:
  • Vibro-acoustic massage with osier brushes;
  • Lymphodrainage massage.
