The 3rd Massage Championship of the Nordic Countries

The 3rd Massage Championship of the Nordic Countries has been successfully held in Jurmala on 4th and 5th October, 2024, organised by P. Stradins Medical College of the University of Latvia in close cooperation with International Massage Association, Denmark.

The championship was held in a friendly atmosphere dominated by the joy of seeing each other again, the desire to demonstrate skills and knowledge, support and a healthy spirit of competition. A total of 29 participants from Latvia, Lithuania and Estonia took part in both days of the championship. On the first day of the event, students demonstrated their performance in the classical massage technique and the freestyle massage program to the international jury of the championship, on the second day, a confident performance was prepared by industry professionals who are practicing massage therapists and SPA specialists on a daily basis.

The championship was opened by director of P. Stradins Medical College of the University of Latvia Iveta Strode, and the founder and CEO of International Massage Association Jeppe Tengbjerg, who thanked the participants and invited to rely on their own experience, so that participation in the championship gives the feeling of valuable time invested.

At the opening of the first day, the participants were also greeted by Laima Grobiņa, head of the Jūrmala Welfare Board and Kristīne Miķelsone-Lipšāne, Ltd. “GMT Beauty trade” representative, while on the second day of the event, Gatis Goba, representative of Latvian Masseurs' Association, joined in the good wishes and gave motivational words to the professionals, and Terēze Beļkova, Ltd. “GMT Beauty Trade” leading methodologist and beautician.

This year's championship program included several master classes with practical demonstrations, which were well received by both visitors and participants. Ltd. “GMT Beauty Trade” offered two themes – “The Power of Premium Massage Oils: The Path to Holistic Wellness and Skin Health” and “Massage products and body applications in masseur practice”. International Massage Association team: CEO, massage therapist, reflexologist and acupuncture specialist Jeppe Tengbjerg, and Kinga Jenei, massage therapist with specialisation in deep tissue massage technique, introduced the participants with the activity, goals and mission of the association and showed practical masterclasses.

The organizers of the championship thank each participant, praise the students who perfectly demonstrated their practical skills acquired during the study process, and appreciate the responsiveness and participation of industry professionals.

Classical massage – 1st place Viesturs Kursītis (LV), 2nd place Ginta Ezeriņa (LV), 3rd place Līga Freiberga (LV).
Free style massage programme – 1st place Inese Volrāte (LV), 2nd place Aram Muradyan (LT), 3rd place Gintarė Čiuplinskaitė (LT).
