The 3rd International week at P. Stradins Medical College of the University of Latvia

P. Stradins Medical College of the University of Latvia from 26nd until 30th September organized 3rd International week, in the framework of which colleagues from four countries visited Jūrmala. The purpose of the event was to promote cooperation with existing foreign partners, to get acquainted with the study programs offered by universities and the study process.

The college received guests from Kaunas University of Applied Sciences (Lithuania), Utena University of Applied Sciences (Lithuania), St. Ignatius of Loyola University of Applied Sciences (Lithuania), HBO Verpleegkunde Genk (Belgium), Medical University – Plovdiv (Bulgaria), IES Nr.1 de Gijon (Spain).

On the first day of the 3rd International week in P. Stradins Medical College of the University of Latvia the guests were presenting their university and country. The guests got to know the study environment of P. Stradins Medical College of the University of Latvia by visiting laboratories, classrooms for practical classes and simulation rooms. Celebrating the 35th anniversary of ERASMUS+, a video created by artist Anda Kolosova in Ebru technique was shown at the opening of the event. At the end of the day, illusionist Valdemārs Weiss encouraged the guests and lecturers for the next week's activities with the help of magic.

During the week guest lecturers were lecturing for the students from study programmes “Esthetic cosmetology”, “Podology”, “Medicine” and “Social care” and discussing with the professionals.
The guests of the P. Stradins Medical College of the University were introduced to the House of Sciences of the University of Latvia, where they visited the Anatomy Laboratory and the Pathology Museum of the Faculty of Medicine.

In order to find answers to questions related to employment in industries, the guests visited Jūrmala hospital, National Rehabilitation Center "Vaivari" and GMT Beauty Trade. There were organised excursions to Rīga and Jūrmala for the guests.

The morning of the fourth day started in a festive mood, because it was dedicated to the 15th year of the study programme "Podology". The Head of the study programme Aelita Koha looked back at the most important development events in the implementation of the programme, Tatjana Ivanova, chairwoman of the Latvian Podiatrist Society, gave a brief insight into the history of podiatry in Latvia, docent and certified podiatrist Mārīte Saulīte shared her professional and academic experience, while graduates Sniedze Krēgere and Elīna Putraševiča looked back on their studies and ERASMUS+ mobility experience.

Finally, during the lecture of Andra Strautiņa on “Time management. Procrastination.” the guests and colleagues acquired new instruments how to manage the time.
